The University of Minnesota is hiring a Sustainability Project Manager! This position is responsible for managing projects and related work that advance sustainability and climate change initiatives at the University of Minnesota. The Project Manager works collaboratively across the University system, partnering with staff, faculty, and students at the University’s campuses, research centers, and facilities to advance strategic institution-wide priorities. The main focus of this position is to support campus activities related to climate protection and campus sustainability assessment. In addition, the Project Manager may work on enterprise-wide projects generated by the Systemwide Sustainability Committee.

Energy saving goals: Exceeded

In 2021, the University of Minnesota achieved over 8 million kilowatt hours in electricity savings, exceeding the goal it set in partnership with Xcel Energy! That’s enough electricity to power 880 average Minnesota homes for a year and avoid 5 million pounds of CO2 emissions. Read more >

"Illicit discharges are considered 'illicit' because MS4s are not designed to accept, process, or discharge such non-stormwater wastes." (EPA) As water runs down the street into storm drains, contaminated with illicit discharge (such as cigarette butts, trash, salt, vehicle fluids, or yard waste) from the street, it flows back down through the stormwater system and back into the river. This position supports the University's MPact 2025 Systemwide Strategic Plan and is a State-funded MNtersections initiative.
